The Portuguese Leonardo Jardim announced on Tuesday that he received the position of the new coach of the Brazilian Football Club, to succeed former “Celesao” coach Fernando Deniz from his technical tasks after a series of bad results.
“I am very happy to sign Cruzero. We will be together soon,” Jardim, 50, said in a video posted on the club’s social media, which is based in Billo Horizonte (southeast).
The former French coach, Monaco, has officially ended his contract with the Emirati Al Ain Club, who has trained him since last November, and will take over for the first time a team from South America.
Jardim, who won the French League title and reached the semi -finals of the Champions League with Monaco in 2017, signed a contract until the end of 2026, according to the Brazilian club’s statement.
Instead of Deniz, who took over the Brazilian team for a short period of time in 2023 and was dismissed last week due to the fans’ dissatisfaction with the poor results of the team.
