The governor of the Tula region Alexei Dyumin instructed to provide all necessary assistance to the victims of a gas explosion in a residential building in Efremov. This was reported on February 7 in the Telegram channel of the regional government.
“Now the main task is to provide all necessary assistance to the victims. <...> The families of the dead, injured and lost their homes will be provided with material support,” Dyumin said.
Next, the degree of destruction of the house will be assessed and a decision will be made on its restoration or demolition.
The explosion occurred in a five-story building on the evening of February 7.
According to Izvestia, the incident claimed the lives of five people. The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs about four dead. Three more were injured. One person remains under the rubble.
In addition, eight apartments were destroyed.
As the most probable cause of the emergency, a malfunction of gas equipment was named. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements.
The local administration promised that the residents of the house where the explosion occurred would be provided with assistance in temporary accommodation.
