The Board of Directors of the Emirates Basketball Federation decided to re-nominate the President of the Federation, Major General (M) Ismail Al-Qarqawi, for the presidency of the Arab Basketball Federation for the new session 2024-2028, in appreciation of his accomplishments and continuous support for the game for more than four decades.
The decision came during a meeting of the Federation’s Board of Directors, the day before yesterday, which was held at Al -Ahly Youth Club headquarters.
The Assistant Secretary -General of the Federation, Mansour Al -Hashemi, explained that the decision was made unanimously by the Board of Directors, given the prominent role that Al -Qarqawi plays in developing basketball sport in the Emirates and the Arab region, as well as achieving many achievements at the Arab and continental levels.
For his part, Ismail Al -Qarqawi expressed his thanks to the Board of Directors for this confidence, stressing his intention to continue to work enthusiastically, in order to develop the game and strengthen the Arab basketball system, through the joint cooperation between the Arab Federation and the member federations.
The Emirates Basketball Federation is scheduled to send a nomination letter to the General Secretariat of the Arab Union, where the General Assembly of the Arab Union will hold its meeting in Dubai on April 17, to elect the new board of directors of the Arab Union.
