The Ministry informed that henceforth the minimum term of building rental agreement or Ejaar will be three months. This is the minimum period for registering the agreement between the building owner and the tenant in the Eajar Network system. Ejar agreement is mandatory for foreigners staying in the country for renewal of iqama.

The tenancy agreement between the building owner and the tenant needs to be specified when registering it in the ejaar system. The Eajar Authority clarified that the agreement cannot be registered unless it is for a period of at least three months.

An agreement should be reached between the building owner and the tenant regarding the rent of the building and how many installments it can be paid. The officials also clarified that the agreement should be entered into with the mutual consent of both. The same mechanism should be utilized for termination of contract. The ministry also clarified that Ejaar agreements for residential purposes are not taxable.
