Skill development hub to be set up at Kochi University of Science and Technology: Minister P. Rajeev
Industry Minister P. Rajeev said that a skill development hub will be established at Kochi University of Science and Technology in collaboration with educational institutions and industrial organizations as part of job skill development. Kalamassery Govt. is a part of the Sky project which is being conducted in Kalamassery constituency under the leadership of the minister with the aim of providing the youth with the necessary skill training to get employment. He was inaugurating the placement drive held at ITI.
As part of the project, skill training classes, training through ASAP and workshops were organized for women and youth in Kalamassery constituency to mold skilled workers. According to Kudumbashree Survey, the placement drive is being conducted with the participation of all the ITI qualified candidates of the constituency registered in K DISC. The minister said that the industrial units who came to participate in such a placement drive to find workers deserve appreciation.
There are many educated housewives in Kerala. Activities will also be implemented to ensure employment for them. In the first phase, a placement drive will be organized for BCom qualified housewives in the constituency. In the era of fast changing technology, it is necessary to come up with courses according to the new job opportunities in the industrial training institutes. The minister said that the aim is to discuss with the labor department officials and industry centers and take measures.
The SKY project is being implemented as an MLA project by bringing together various science and technology higher education institutions in Kalamassery constituency. 32 industrial units participated in the placement drive. Along with the candidates of the constituency, Govt. Students studying in ITI were also given an opportunity to participate in the placement.
Kalamassery Municipality Chairperson Seema Kannan presided over the function, Councilor Neshida Salam, District Industry Center General Manager PA Najeeb, Manager R. Rama, Kalamassery Govt. ITI Principal PK Raghunathan and others participated.
