The Colombian army intervenes after the Liverpool star’s parents were kidnapped

The British Sky Sports channel, citing Colombian media, revealed yesterday a kidnapping carried out by gunmen, targeting the parents of Liverpool star, Colombian Luis Diaz. The kidnapping took place in Barrancas, Colombia.

The Colombian police revealed in a statement that Luis Diaz’s mother, Selenis Marulanda, was later released, while the fate of his father, Luis Manuel, remains mysterious. The kidnapping was confirmed by Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro, who later also announced the release of Luis Díaz’s mother.

After the kidnapping was revealed, a massive search operation was launched throughout the country, where various Colombian police departments intervened, along with army forces, as the news was considered shocking to Diaz’s fans, whether in Colombia or in his English club, Liverpool. The entire city and all of its suburbs were cordoned off, as the search is still ongoing for his father, who had suffered from a severe illness recently, which had caused him to lose a lot of weight.
