Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, welcomed the joint initiative of Saudi Arabia and the United States to start preliminary talks between representatives of the Sudanese army and representatives of the Rapid Support Forces, which were held today in Jeddah.
Al-Budaiwi appreciated the good efforts and endeavors made by Saudi Arabia and the United States with all parties, to prepare the necessary ground for dialogue and reduce the level of tension in a way that guarantees the security and stability of Sudan and its people, and contributes to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The Secretary-General expressed his hope that these talks would contribute to reaching a political solution that preserves the unity and cohesion of state institutions, and achieves the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, peace, stability and development.
He stressed that the GCC countries support peace and always seek, through their long-established and extended diplomatic relations, to maintain regional and global peace and security.
