The chief of the radio-technical troops of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Major General Andrei Koban, who is under arrest on suspicion of taking a bribe of 5 million rubles, was removed from his post.
During the court session on January 14, Koban himself said that the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Nikolai Pankov had already signed an order on his dismissal.
The Major General has been in a remand prison (SIZO) since November, but information about this has appeared only now, when the investigation filed a motion to extend the arrest period.
On January 14, the court is considering the issue of extending the term of the suspect’s detention in the pre-trial detention center until April 20.
According to the investigation, Koban illegally received at least 5 million rubles from the director general of the Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Radio Engineering.
Earlier, on December 9, a criminal case was initiated against the director of the aviation assets department of the UAC branch, Sergei Komasko, and the leading advisor of the department of the Russian Ministry of Defense for ensuring the state defense order, Alexander Lopatin.
Komasko and Lopatin, according to the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR), could have been involved in a corruption crime. The case was initiated under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Taking a bribe on an especially large scale”).
