Shabab Al Ahli administrator, Khaled Al Kaabi, confirmed that the draw for the Round of 16 of the “President’s Cup” was balanced in most matches, but he pointed out that the competition will lose two big teams early.
Al Kaabi told Al-Emarat Al-Youm that Shabab Al-Ahli’s match against Dibba Al-Hisn in the round of 16 will not be easy, stressing that the “Dubai Knights” must play the match with great focus in order to qualify for the quarter-finals.
He explained: “The draw resulted in balanced matches, and there are two heavyweight matches, Al Wasl vs Al Wahda, and Al Nasr vs Sharjah, as the competition will lose two big teams early.”
He added: “We thank the Football Association for the wonderful ceremony and the distinguished place that hosted the draw ceremony, at Space 42 Arena on Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi. The draw was smooth and electronic, while it was held using the same system as last season’s edition, which achieved good success, which contributed to repeating the experience in the new season.”
“We hope that Al Ahli youth will be successful against Dibba Al Hisn, especially since the President’s Cup is among the team’s priorities this season, in addition to the fact that the tournament has a special place for the Dubai Knights, as the team has won 10 titles, and the same applies to all clubs seeking to win the title, as it carries a name that is dear to us all,” he added.
Khalid Al Kaabi stressed that Shabab Al Ahli is participating in all tournaments this season, with the aim of competing for their titles. He said: “The team started the season well, by winning the first three rounds of the ADNOC Professional League, and passing the first round of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, in addition to winning the first round of the AFC Champions League 2, which confirms that the team’s ambitions are great in competing for all titles.”
