The organizing committee of the Seventh Historic Delma Festival Race for 60-foot Sailing Bearings announced that the start date of the race has been set for next Friday.
The festival is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.
The sailboats began to head towards Dalma Island, in preparation for the start of the race, where they were received by the organizing committees on the island, in order to review and prepare all the arrangements on Dalma Island, and to supervise the advance procedures before the start of the race.
The value of the prize money for the race is 30 million dirhams.
In its statement issued yesterday, the organizing committee confirmed that the historic Delma Race is the most expensive and longest among the sailboat races, with a total distance of 68 nautical miles (equivalent to 125 kilometres).
