Dermatologist Stanislav Arkannikov said that sunbathing can be beneficial to health under certain conditions.
In an interview with Sputnik radio on Friday, July 21, the specialist explained that sunburn is a protective reaction of the skin to exposure to sunlight, which is beneficial to the body only in moderate doses.
The doctor emphasized that in central Russia you can be in the sun in the morning until 11:00 a.m., and in the afternoon from 17:00 p.m. Thus, you can sunbathe without harm to health.
“If you are forced to be in the sun in the middle of the day, then you need to apply sunscreen to the skin,” Arkannikov warned.
He added that it is also important to properly care for the skin after sunbathing – apply a moisturizing nourishing composition. For example, it can be a remedy for inflammation and burns, a special cosmetic after-sun lotion. In this case, “the person will not “peel off”, and the tan is more likely to “stick” beautifully.
On July 12, doctor Maya Krupskaya advised not to go outside with children during active hours of solar radiation in order to minimize the risk of damage to the skin of children during walks.
