The 24th edition of the Dubai International Marathon will start at six in the morning today, sponsored by the Dubai Sports Council, with wide participation from various countries around the world, competing for the titles of three races: the classic marathon for a distance of 42.195 km, the 10 km race, and the family race for a distance of four km.
The participants in the main race are led by 63 male and female runners from the elite world record holders and winners of the world’s most famous marathons, competing for first place prizes for the men’s and women’s competitions, worth $80,000 each.
The total financial prizes allocated for the main race of the Dubai Marathon this year are $312,000, in addition to the financial prizes allocated for the 10 km and four km races, with the participation of more than 20 thousand male and female runners in the three races.
The organizing committee has completed arrangements for the race, which will start from the Umm Suqeim area near the Dubai Police Academy on Jumeirah Beach Road, passing through Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah.
For his part, the General Coordinator of the Dubai World Marathon, Counselor Ahmed Al Kamali, expressed his optimism about the success of the race, thanks to the great support he receives from all bodies and institutions in Dubai, led by the Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Police, and Dubai Media Incorporated. , Dubai Government Media Office, Ambulance, and Dubai Humanitarian.
Al Kamali said in a press conference: “Dubai Municipality, headed by Marwan bin Ghalita, provided great support to the marathon organizing committee, in terms of putting the finishing touches on the main platform and decorating the start and end points, and in coordination with the Roads Authority to close all roads leading to the race, and facilitate the task of the participants or the public.” Following the marathon competitions, by allowing the start of work (Dubai Metro) from five in the morning.
He added: “We also appreciate the role of the Dubai Government Media Office in conveying all the details of the event via social media, as well as the Dubai Sports Channel, which will broadcast the event live.”
For his part, the representative of the “Al-Amin Program”, Omar Al-Falasi, revealed that the program will participate with 200 contestants, in the third appearance to support the Dubai Marathon. He said: “The Al-Amin Program will provide prizes for the 10-kilometre public race for all categories, and a marathon prize for the citizens category for men and women, and we will also support the chairs category for people of determination.”
He added: “There is a tendency within the Al-Amin Program to create a greater partnership in the future with the Dubai Marathon, especially since we are participating this year in the elite category with three runners in the women’s and men’s categories, and we look forward to providing good results in this race.”
