The Egyptian Federation responded to Essam El-Hadary’s contract with the Syrian national team with an official statement, confirming that it will permanently exclude him from contracting with the Egyptian national teams in the future.
And the federation published a statement on its Facebook page, during which it announced that it would not deal with it in training national teams during the coming period.
The statement added, “The Egyptian Football Association confirms that Essam El-Hadary was present in the last camp of the Egyptian Olympic team, which witnessed a friendly match with Gabon. The national team is on the verge of two crucial matches against Zambia in the African Nations Qualifiers next month.
And he continued, “The matter that pushes the Egyptian Federation to address its Syrian counterpart, denouncing this step and contracting with one of the coaches contracting with the Egyptian national teams, in an unprecedented step.”
“The Egyptian Football Association also confirms that it is in the process of contracting with a new national coach to train the goalkeepers of the Olympic team, to succeed El-Hadary,” the statement added.
Syria failed to qualify for the last World Cup after occupying the penultimate position in its group in the final stage.
The Syrian Football Association announced the joining of Egyptian Issam El-Hadary to the coaching staff of the first national team, led by Argentine Hector Cuper.
Al-Ittihad said on its Facebook page that “the 50-year-old El-Hadary” joined the training staff accompanying the Argentine coach Cooper, which will consist of assistant coach Mahmoud Fayez, performance analyst and assistant coach Jose Carlos Fantagozi, goalkeeper coach Essam El-Hadary and fitness coach Antonio Sarioglu.
Cuper, the former coach of Egypt, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uzbekistan, took charge of Syria last week, succeeding coach Hossam Al-Sayed, and will lead the team in the Asian Cup finals in Qatar.
Cooper, 67, previously led the Egyptian national team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
El-Hadary worked as a goalkeeper coach for the first Egyptian national team in the African Cup of Nations last year, before working with the Olympic team.
Al-Hadary said in a statement on his Facebook page, “After a period I spent with the Egyptian Olympic team, I am currently announcing my departure from my position as a goalkeeper coach, heading to a new training experience with the brotherly Syrian national team, accompanied by veteran Hector Cuper, after the permission of Muhammad Barakat (a member of the Egyptian Federation for the game) and Mikali (a member of the Egyptian Football Association). He added, “I worked for many years with sincerity and diligence under the slogan of the Egyptian national team, as a player or as a goalkeeper coach.”
El-Hadary added, “I would like to thank everyone who helped me since my retirement and contributed to my presence as a coach for the first Egyptian national team and then the Olympic team. Good luck in my next step.”
