The day before yesterday, the Board of Directors of the Emirates Sports Arbitration Center held its first meeting, following its new formation that was recently announced at the extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee, at the center’s headquarters in Dubai, where it reviewed all reports related to sports disputes and financial aspects. And the regulations and laws related to the center’s work, and research to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
The head of the Emirates Center for Sports Arbitration, Jamal Al Marri, said: “The new formation of the Emirates Center for Sports Arbitration includes many competencies and supervisory national cadres known for their competence and dedication to work, which will have a great impact on the center’s continuation of its path based on neutrality and integrity, which contributes to Settle all disputes between the parties and promote the creation of a sports environment conducive to competition, in addition to applying the Olympic foundations and principles that enhance the level of UAE sports at all levels.”
He added: “During the first meeting, we reviewed all the reports, and discussed the proposals and development ideas by the members. Everyone is fully prepared to serve this legal entity, and the national justice edifice concerned with achieving its noble goals, consolidating its noble mission, and giving everyone their due rights. We also reviewed the steps for developing the website.” The Center’s electronic website, “to be a comprehensive and reliable source of information and resources related to sports arbitration.” The Emirates Sports Arbitration Center is exclusively specialized in arbitrating all sports disputes, especially those resulting from final decisions. Issued by the operating authorities and the Olympic Committee in accordance with their statutes, disciplinary decisions issued in accordance with the operating authorities’ regulations, and appealable decisions issued by the National Anti-Doping Committee.
The meeting was attended by center members Ghanem Al-Hajri, representing the General Sports Authority, Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, and Dr. Faisal Hassan Ahmed, representing those with legal expertise, Shehab Hamad Bushhab, representing individual sports, Moza Bouharoun, representing those with sports expertise, and Abdullah Buamim, representing group sports. The meeting also witnessed the appointment of Dr. Belisha Al Ketbi as Executive Director of the Emirates Sports Arbitration Centre.
