Interim England coach Lee Carsley will be missing eight players whom he called up to face Greece and Ireland in the European Nations League competition.
Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Yukayo Saka, Chelsea duo Levi Colwell and Cole Palmer, Manchester City duo Phil Foden and Jack Grealish, in addition to Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, withdrew due to injury.
Carsley decided to call up five players instead of them: Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa) for the first time, in addition to Burnley’s first-class (Championship) goalkeeper James Trafford, defender Tino Livramento (Newcastle), Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton), and Jared Bowen (West Ham).
England will meet Greece on Thursday in Athens before hosting Ireland on Sunday.
Carsley took over his position as successor to Gareth Southgate after the European Cup finals last summer on a temporary basis, and will hand over the reins to German Thomas Tuchel, who was appointed by the English Football Association as coach last month, and will officially take over his position early next year.
