Former England and Newcastle striker Alan Shearer warned against the participation of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the upcoming African Nations Cup.
Shearer confirmed that the absence of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane from Liverpool for up to a month to participate in the African Nations Cup could cost the Reds the loss of the English Premier League.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6, with the participation of 24 teams.
Shearer said in his column on the BBC: “Liverpool will lose the stars of its team, Salah and Mane, in three or four matches during the coming period in the Premier League.”
He added: “Salah and Mane are among the most prominent players in the English Premier League at the present time, and they have scoring capabilities that make them able to make a difference in matches, and of course the offensive line of Liverpool will be greatly affected and may cost him the loss of the English Premier League.”
He continued, “Salah has a special magic that he can use at any moment and is able to score goals in the opponents’ net. He is currently the best player in the world, and his absence will be a great loss against Liverpool and a strengthening of his rivals for the Premier League title.”
He concluded: “Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have great technical potential, and we will see a lot of excitement until the end of the current season, and the competition between them will continue for a long time.”
