Earlier, Boris Johnson was scheduled to visit India in early January. The visit to India was planned for trade talks between the two countries. However, the Times of India reported that the decision was abandoned as Kovid cases spread in the country.

Boris Johnson’s office has announced that he will conclude his visit to India ahead of the G7 summit in the UK in June. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the meeting as a visitor. Prior to this, the British Prime Minister decided to visit India.

The Office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has stated that it will continue to discuss policies for the Indo-Pacific region in the coming years. Last month, Britain came forward to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). It was only after Brexit that the UK expressed interest in joining the 11-nation bloc. Britain has also expressed interest in joining the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
