In an interview with the Zvezda TV channel on Friday, December 3, he noted that sausage contains 20 times less nitrates than beets. When frying in a pan in beets, a large amount of nitrite is formed from nitrates.
“Look at the nitrate content in beets – up to 1000 mg / kg. The sausage contains up to 50 mg / kg, ”the specialist noted.
However, he doubted that nitrites negatively affect the body.
“Nitrates, which are converted into nitrites, we eat every day in wild quantities. For centuries people have been eating these salads and borscht, and nothing terrible happens to them, ”the technologist emphasized.
