US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland categorically refused to cooperate with the Russian parliamentary commission on the work of American biological laboratories in Ukraine, as stated by Vice Speaker of the Federation Council (SF) Konstantin Kosachev on August 24.
“We contacted Mrs. Nuland. Through her apparatus, we received a categorical refusal to cooperate with the commission, with some propaganda clichés that, they say, you better take care of yourself and look at yourself – completely unconvincing, ”he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The official invitation was reportedly sent by Nuland through diplomatic channels on May 25. In addition, the Russian Federation did not receive any substantive answers to the questions that were asked.
On August 4, Igor Kirillov, head of the radiation, chemical and biological defense troops of the Russian Armed Forces, said that the US Department of Defense had tried to hide its participation in the development of biological weapons in Ukraine. The lieutenant general said that during a special military operation to protect Donbass, the Russian military found documents confirming that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and its main contractor, Labyrinth Ukraine, have been participating in a military biological program since 2019 .
On July 7, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, said that the US authorities had removed a national collection of microorganisms from Ukraine. The corresponding conclusion was made after studying the report received during the special military operation to protect Donbass.
Prior to that, in June, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that Russia was demanding answers to specific questions about US military-biological activities in the post-Soviet space instead of “general answers.” In addition, Zakharova spoke about Moscow’s plans to request consultations with the states parties to the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons.
