On the occasion of Vishu, the government has decided to distribute the welfare pension amount of Rs. 3200 for two months together. Finance Minister KN Balagopal informed that this is a Vishu handi for about 60 lakh people in the state.
1871 crores have been allocated for this purpose.
The government was able to allocate Rs 22,000 crore for the year-end expenditure only in the month of March, when the state was facing financial difficulties as part of the central government’s severe financial discrimination. The government is moving forward with the support of the people, disappointing the people who spread the word that the treasury will be closed, the state will go into overdraft and start including salaries, pensions and welfare pensions. While the central government is trying to trouble the state in various ways, the state is coping with it by better financial management and by taking steps to increase its own revenue.
Right after the successful completion of the year-end expenditure, the government is upholding the populist stance of the Left Democratic Front by bringing together two months of welfare pension to 62 lakh ordinary people of Kerala. The minister also informed that the welfare pension amount of Rs 3200 for two months will be distributed from the 10th of April.
