Godolphin’s world-class filly, Tarifa, will face her rival, Kentucky Oaks champion, American filly Thorpedo Anna, in a competition that will bring them together to win the Cotillion Stakes, a Group 1 race for horses over a distance of 1,700 metres, which will be held today at the Parks Racecourse in Pennsylvania, USA.
Tarifa is building on her racing experience in the Cotillion Stakes, having started 2024 with three straight wins at the Fair Grounds, including a double in Group 2 races in the Rachel Alexandra Stakes and Fair Grounds Oaks in February and March, before the daughter of stallion Bernardini, trained by Brad Cox, finished runner-up in her most recent participation last August in the Audubon Oaks at Alice Park in the US.
Godolphin’s racehorse breeding director in America, Michael Banahan, commented on Tarifa’s readiness, saying in press statements: “Tarifa enters the race in excellent condition, and trainer Brad is pleased with her recent training.”
“Her rival Thorpedo Anna will clearly be the favourite as the best three-year-old filly in America but we expect a big effort from Tarifa in her preparation for the upcoming races,” he added.
