The bus was tested by driving it on two trips in Tirumala. Observed the performance of the bus at high altitudes and turns. Also, IIT professors also examined the bus condition and other technical aspects as per RTC standards. Also, the committee will decide the ticket price of this bus soon. These buses are being made available for pollution control as part of environment protection on Tirumala Hill.
The AP government has signed an agreement with Olectra Green Tech for electric buses in the state. As per the agreement, Olectra has to supply 100 buses to APSRTC. Many buses have already reached Alipiri depot. Specially trained drivers will be appointed as drivers in these electric buses.
APSRTC will make 100 electric buses available on hire basis. Out of which 50 buses will be run on Tirupati-Tirumala Ghat. It has been decided to run the remaining 50 buses from Tirupati to other areas. Buses will run from Tirupati to Kadapa, Madanapally, Renigunta, Chittoor and Nellore. This bus is designed to seat a total of 32 people.
