For the first time, projection pedestrian crossings were installed in Khabarovsk. Unregulated crossings were retrofitted with projectors that reproduce road markings on the carriageway.
Such devices were installed at the crossings across Zaparina Street, in Studenchesky Lane and on Ussuriysky Boulevard near Vostretsova Street.
According to Nikolay Zhirakov, head of the road and external improvement sector, cited by AmurMedia news agency, first of all, the equipment is installed where pedestrian collisions were recorded and low visibility of the zebra was observed.
Projectors reproduce markings on any surface. They turn on closer to dusk. “Zebra” is visible even with precipitation. Projectors illuminate pedestrians at night.
1.5 million rubles were spent on the additional equipment of the crossings and their connection. The money came from the city budget. In the event that the devices show themselves positively in winter and during rains, they will continue to be installed. Such transitions can appear near social institutions.
