Warner Bros. has announced the release date for MultiVersus.
The free-to-play fighting game with characters from WBD franchises (DC Comics, Game of Thrones, Looney Tunes, Cartoon Network…) reactivated its social networks last week after eight months of inactivity.
MultiVersus was released in open beta in June 2022 and was the best premiere of a Warner Bros. video game on Steam at the time with more than 150k simultaneous players, but as of February 2023 it had lost 99% of its user base on Steam. Warner decided to close the open beta in June 2023 until the official launch.
Along the way they have updated the graphics engine to Unreal Engine 5 and have improved the netcode, in addition to designing new scenarios and characters. They have also introduced a new mode focused on PvE.
MultiVersus will be released on May 28 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Warner Bros.’ video game division recently indicated its intention to invest more in games as a service while removing games published by Adult Swim Games from stores.
