As part of the “#Hatta_Winter” activities, the Hatta Sports and Social Cultural Club is organizing the “Hatta Running Championship”, which will be held tomorrow (Saturday), under the patronage of Sheikh Saeed bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Hatta Sports and Social Cultural Club, in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, one of The main partners of the initiative, in which more than 1,000 male and female runners of different nationalities and ages participate, competing for a total of prizes amounting to 100 thousand dirhams.
The tournament includes competition in 8 different categories: the men’s categories for Emirati women and the open category for a distance of 8 km, the women’s categories for Emirati women and the open category for a distance of 5 km, the youth categories for Emirati women and the open category for under 20 years for a distance of 5 km, and the junior categories for Emirati women and the open category for under 16 years for a distance of 3 km.
The race routes were chosen to combine passing through the most beautiful natural and tourist areas that characterize the region, and add a physical challenge to the participants, and all races end in the Lim Lake area.
The Hatta Running Championship comes within the framework of the various sporting activities included in the “#Winter_Hatta” initiative, which is supervised by the Supreme Committee to Supervise the Development of the Hatta Region, and implemented by “Brand Dubai”, the creative arm of the Dubai Government Media Office, in cooperation with a number of government and private agencies.
The Hatta Running Championship is being held in the context of ongoing efforts to attract and organize more sporting events in this vital area of Dubai, in a way that serves its residents and also contributes to enhancing its economic opportunities, and enhancing its position as a destination for major sporting events, as Hatta recently hosted the “Winter Hatta 2024” football championship, which Eight community teams participated in it, and the preliminary demonstration phase of the Dubai International Rally activities was held during the period from November 29 to December 1, organized by the Emirates Motor Organization. Hatta will also host many sporting events during the coming period as part of the “#Hatta_Winter” initiative, most notably the running, mountain bike and kayak races organized by Hatta Adventures and Hatta Kayak on January 11, 2025, the stand-up paddling and kayak challenge on January 25 and 26, and family sports events on February 1.
