General Director of VimpelCom (trade mark – Beeline) Alexander Torbakhov commented to Izvestia on the death of the founder and honorary president of the company Dmitry Zimin.
“This is very sad news. Dmitry Borisovich is the most important figure for the history of the company: he did not just create and manage Beeline, – there are still a lot of his features in the character of the company: his incredible sense of humor, eternal optimism, amazing clear mind and courage, “said Torbakhov …
According to the general director of VimpelCom, Zimin had modesty, “which these days is such a rarity among successful people.” He stated that the company would miss this man.
The founder of “Beeline” died in Switzerland at the age of 88 on Wednesday, December 22. According to his son Boris, “he left in full consciousness, peacefully, a little sad about us and about life, but still with relief – in recent months he was seriously ill.”
Dmitry Zimin founded VimpelCom in 1992 together with businessman Konstantin Kuzov and American businessman Augie K. Fabela II. Since the early 2000s, he has been involved in charity work.
