A huge generation deficit has been recorded in the energy system of Ukraine. This was announced on Sunday, January 15, by Sergey Kovalenko, CEO of YASNO DTEK.
“The generation deficit in the power system after the attack is huge. A number of thermal power plants (thermal power plants. – Ed.) Do not work due to serious damage. It is still too early to predict recovery time. How long the repairs will last is not yet known, ”says a message published on Kovalenko’s Facebook page (owned by Meta, banned and recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
According to him, the damage at the facilities is significant. Despite the active work of all power engineers, he urges Ukrainians to be prepared for prolonged power outages.
The day before, on January 14, the Minister of Energy of the country German Galushchenko announced the defeat of energy infrastructure facilities in five regions, as well as in the part of the Zaporozhye region controlled by Kyiv. He also added that the next days will be difficult.
Earlier on Saturday, Ukrenergo reported that emergency power outages had been introduced in 11 regions of Ukraine.
On the same day, an air alert was announced throughout Ukraine. Explosions were reported in Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Vinnitsa, Odessa, Kharkov and Lvov regions.
As a resident of Kharkov told Izvestia, there is no electricity in the whole city, the work of the metro has been stopped.
There were no official comments from the Russian Ministry of Defense about attacks on energy facilities that day.
Russian troops began to strike at military control facilities and related energy and communications facilities from October 10. As Russian President Vladimir Putin explained, this was a response to the terrorist actions of the Kyiv regime, including on the Crimean bridge.
Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision to hold it was made against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by Ukrainian troops.
