The International Football Association (FIFA) fined the Senegalese national football team financially and forced it to play a match behind closed doors, due to the events that took place during its decisive match with Egypt on March 29 in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

In addition to the general violation of “safety rules” and the maintenance of order at the Abdoulaye-Wadi stadium in Diamniadio near the capital Dakar, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee referred to pitch invasions, the throwing of projectiles, the use of lasers and smoke bombs on the stands, as well as an “offensive” sign, In the match that Sadio Mane and his companions won against his Liverpool colleague, Mohamed Salah, on penalties, 3-1, after a 1-1 draw on aggregate.

And FIFA imposed a fine on Senegal of 175,000 Swiss francs (about 180,000 dollars), in addition to playing a match without fans, as part of a long list of penalties revealed by FIFA on Monday.

The Egyptian team was also fined 6,000 Swiss francs due to the team’s misconduct. The Egyptian Federation had submitted a complaint to the International Federation against the backdrop of the events in the Senegal match and the harassment he was subjected to.

On the other hand, the Algerian Federation was fined 3,000 Swiss francs for throwing projectiles and igniting smoke bombs during the play-off, which it lost dramatically with Cameroon in Blida (1-0 and 1-2 after extension).

Thus, the International Federation had satisfied itself with financial fines and disciplinary penalties, while the Algerian Federation hoped to replay the match, objecting to the “scandalous arbitration” of Gambian Bakari Gassama.

And the “Desert Warriors” were eliminated at the last minute with a goal from Karl-Toko Ekambi (120 + 4), after they scored a goal in the 118th minute that was enough to take them to the Qatar World Cup at the end of this year.

FIFA also fined Morocco 30,000 Swiss francs during its 4-1 victory over the Democratic Republic of the Congo after a 1-1 draw, for throwing projectiles, igniting smoke bombs and closing ports, in exchange for a fine of 5,000 francs to the Democratic Republic of the Congo for throwing projectiles. But the latter was fined 120,000 Swiss francs with a penalty for playing a match without fans for its violations in the first leg between them on March 25.

Lebanon was subjected to a large fine of 100,000 Swiss francs while playing a match without its fans, for failing to maintain security, throwing projectiles and storming the field during the confrontation with Syria last March, in which Syria received a fine of 7,500 Swiss francs.

And Iran, qualified for the World Cup, received a warning for its failure to ensure security and non-compliance with safety rules during the confrontation with Iraq on January 27.
