On July 4, Izvestia TV channel war correspondent Valentin Trushnin talked to an officer of the Vostok battalion with the call sign Arab and found out how the special operation to protect Donbass was going in the Ugledar direction.
“More reconnaissance activities need to be carried out here. Minefields are very common in this direction. <...> The enemy has a huge arsenal of artillery, installations, and he systematically works on us with this, ”said the military man.
The officer also said that Ukrainian fighters often use unmanned aerial vehicles, so the Russian military has to go into hiding.
“They (UAVs. – Ed.) are swarming right above us. Sometimes at a distance of 100-200 m. They look out, search, cover if possible. <...> Where there is an open area, you have to crawl. Sometimes a distance of 100 meters has to be covered in a whole day,” Arab said.
Earlier that day, Izvestia’s military commander Alexander Safiulin visited combat positions near the village of Peski, which is located near the town of Yasinovataya in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). According to the journalist, from these positions it is very clearly visible how the Armed Forces of Ukraine are shelling Donetsk, but the forces of the DPR and the Russian Federation strike back.
Russia continues the special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. The key goals of the Russian military are the denazification and demilitarization of the Kyiv regime. This is necessary to ensure the security of the Russian state and people, the Kremlin said.
