The national Jiu-Jitsu team, sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, continues its preparations to participate in the World Championship organized by the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, which will be hosted by Greece during the period from October 24 to November 3, 2024.
This year, the championship will be held in a combined format, with the Para-Jiu-Jitsu and Adult categories starting from October 24 to 28, followed by the Under-21, Under-18, Under-16 categories between October 29 and November 3, 2024.
Our national team champions in the senior category are participating in a closed training camp starting today until October 18 in the city of Al Dhafra, with the participation of 37 male and female players, in addition to 20 male and female athletes from Brazil, which provides an opportunity to test their skills and hone their abilities through interaction and gaining experience from other players who follow different methods.
The camp program includes three training sessions per day, divided into two Jiu-Jitsu sessions that focus on technical and strategic aspects and technical skills, in addition to a physical strengthening session, which includes enhancing the players’ ability to engage in fights.
Yousef Al Batran, a member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The Federation is keen to provide all forms of support to the national team in its various categories, to ensure their maximum readiness at the physical and psychological levels, to participate in the most prominent tournaments on the continental and international agenda of the game.”

The national team has a distinguished record of achievements in this championship, as it succeeded in embracing the title in the past four editions, and it enters this championship with intense focus and a strong desire to defend the title,” he added.
In turn, Mubarak Al Menhali, Director of Technical Department at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Greece hosts a group of the strongest international teams that are looking forward to presenting a performance that guarantees achieving advanced positions. Based on our awareness that the competition will be at the highest levels, we were keen to ensure that the closed training camp that the team is participating in provides an integrated training environment, under the supervision of the best coaches and experts, which guarantees that our players reach the peak of performance and the required levels of readiness.”
Al-Menhali stressed that the training camp is a crucial stage in preparing players at all levels, especially in terms of enhancing physical fitness and refining technical skills, noting its importance in providing an ideal environment to stimulate team spirit, enhance concentration levels, and enable analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of players and competitors alike.
He noted the importance of the camp in enhancing the players’ self-confidence, as they are given the opportunity to train in an environment that simulates the atmosphere of real competition, which enhances their psychological readiness and their ability to deal efficiently with various pressures and challenges.
Last year, the senior Jiu-Jitsu team succeeded in outperforming more than 40 teams during the World Championship held in the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar, and was able to take the championship title, achieving 14 colored medals, including (8 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals).
The national youth and junior team under (21, 18, 16) years old also succeeded in retaining the World Championship title for the fourth consecutive year in Kazakhstan, after achieving 46 colored medals, including (15 gold, 12 silver, and 19 bronze).
