The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) national team has filed a protest against the assessment of rhythmic gymnast Arina Averina for her performance with the ball in the all-around finals of the Games in Tokyo on Saturday, August 7.
The ROC considered that the Russian woman should have received a higher grade. However, the judges rejected the protest and Averina was left with 27,900 points for playing with the ball, writes Sport-Express.
At the same time, the ROC’s protest against the Russian woman’s assessment of the clubs performance was satisfied. So, initially, Averina’s score was 27,400 points, but later the judges decided to increase the score by 0.400 points.
The ROC national team’s protest against the assessment of another Russian woman, Dina Averina, was rejected following the results of her performance with clubs. The athlete received 28.150 points for the performance.
Thus, after three disciplines, Dina Averina takes second place. Lina Ashram from Israel is in the lead. Arina Averina is on the third line.
Earlier that day, the Russians reached the final of the Tokyo Games in rhythmic gymnastics in the team category. The team includes Anastasia Bliznyuk, Anastasia Maksimova, Anastasia Tatareva, Alisa Tishchenko and Angelina Shkatova.
The final stage of the team competition will take place on August 8, which coincides with the last day of the Olympics.
The XXXII Olympic Games in Tokyo are held from July 23 to August 8. More than 11 thousand athletes from 206 countries take part in the competition, 339 sets of awards are played in 41 sports. The Russian team includes 333 athletes.
