Meanwhile, West Bengal was the first state to ban the film The Kerala Story. A statement was issued on Monday stating that the film is disturbing the peace. The Bengal government has said that the screening of the film has been banned in order to maintain law and order in the state to prevent any incidents of hatred or violence. The producers of the film filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the banning of the film. They explained to the court that they are suffering a lot due to this.
The movie was controversial due to the scenes in which 32,000 women from Kerala joined ISIS. BJP-ruled states such as Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have received tax exemptions even as they faced obstacles to demonstrations in opposition-ruled states. The film is directed by Bollywood director Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Shah. ‘The Kerala Story’ explained how a group of women are forcibly converted to Islam and recruited by the IS terrorist organization. The film is causing a political firestorm, with opposition parties accusing 32,000 women of joining ISIS as an exaggeration.
