Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized technology as we knew it until now, since it has given us very advanced tools in a very short time, and just as this offers us unique opportunities, it also has negative side effects.
Among the many dangers that exist, such as the one recently discovered with ChatGPT’s “grandma mode”, lFake images created with AI have already proven to be a serious problem, since the results are very realistic and can be use to spread “fake news” that seem more true because it is accompanied by an image.
We could say that luckily, and while governments, institutions and companies work to create a legal framework for this technology, AI generated imaging results are not perfect and today we are going to show you what are the details to take into account so as not to bite and be deceived with these false photos.
Keys to not be deceived
This is not an easy task, since the objective of the people who create these images is to make you believe that it is true, even so, there are details that can reveal that the photo is generated with AI.
One of the main keys is look at hands, fingers and teeth of the people in the image. This is because the creation algorithm has not yet mastered these human characteristics and on many occasions they come out deformed, only 4 fingers stick out or appear crooked or flattened.
Another of the most noteworthy aspects is that many AI image generators abuse using textures that are too smooth or people’s skin is too shiny and plastic-like. When everything is too perfect, it is appropriate to doubt the reality of the photo.
At the same time, we must pay attention and look for details that do not fit in the photo when we have suspicions, as we said before, these images have imperfections, so we must pay attention to whether there are floating objects, repeating details or things that don’t make sense such as the placement of a hand or a misplaced shadow.
Finally, it is also important that do a research paper to see if other media or platforms have published that image as real, in the event that you do not see anything, it is most likely a false image.
