In Donbass, battles of varying intensity are taking place along the entire line of contact. Correspondents of “Izvestia” visited the Seversky direction and in the front-line village of Shipilovka.
Ukrainian armed formations in this sector of the front are still dispersed among the landings and are not carrying out serious attacks. Near the village of Belogorovka, one can clearly see how Russian artillery works.
In the rear, a volley of Grad MLRS is heard, then rockets pass overhead, explosions are heard, and smoke rises above the forest. Judging by their number, they fired at Ukrainian positions in a whole package.
The actions of the MLRS are immediately supported by large-caliber artillery. It fires one or two projectiles at a time. The fire, most likely, is conducted on reconnoitered targets.
Above us, at extremely low altitude, a pair of Su-25 attack aircraft pass and launch missiles towards Seversk, turn around, shoot off heat traps and fly back.
It is not safe to stay at a height or go down to Belogorovka, you need to move to the village of Shipilovka. Chalk hills separate it from the line of contact and it is relatively quiet here.
The village was destroyed, but not much. Although there are completely broken houses and sheds. Now about 180 people live here. On the central square of Shipilovka stands a wrecked Mazda pickup truck with a Ukrainian flag on the hood. A shell hit the local school, destroyed part of the wall and tore off the roof.
There are drafts in the classrooms, and curtains flutter in the broken windows, and textbooks are scattered underfoot. Local residents tidy up the streets – they collect the garbage left after the battles and mow down the overgrown weeds.
“The sappers walked along the street and now you can put things in order. They used to be afraid – and there were a lot of unexploded shells, and mines – “petals”, ”they explain.
The cannonade is well audible, but the locals do not pay attention to it, although shells fly into Shipilovka.
