The Moscow Provincial Theater (MGT) celebrated its 10th birthday. Izvestia correspondent Anna Nichugovskaya appreciated the festive atmosphere.
On the occasion of the anniversary, guests of the event were shown a performance staged by actor and screenwriter, artistic director of MGT Sergei Bezrukov. In addition, anyone could see the backstage of the theater and even take part in vocal or dance classes.
During the open master class, participants performed exercises on attention, partnership and imagination – everything that helps to achieve mastery. Moreover, in just one hour, the audience learned excerpts of the final dances from three productions: “Marriage Almost According to Gogol,” “Poetry Cafe “Luch” and “Treasure Island.”
As one of the participants in the master classes, Lyubov Astrakhantseva, noted, the choreographic elements were easy to perform.
“They were so light and cool. What’s most interesting is that they were funny, as soon as we learned the pirates, such internal energy immediately turned on. You know, I’m a pirate! How good,” said Lyubov.
Meanwhile, the vocal teacher explained to the guests how the diaphragm should work and how to breathe correctly in order to get a beautiful voice. As a result, even those who had not done it before were able to sing.
Participants had the opportunity to play table tennis and dominoes with their favorite actors and chat over tea. Afterwards – fitting of theatrical costumes and evaluation of props. The event ended with a musical and dramatic plastic performance, which was based on Vissarion Belinsky’s article “Literary Dreams”.
Sergei Bezrukov created MGT from scratch, combining two regional theaters that were located in the House of Culture. Honored Artist of Russia Dmitry Dyuzhev expressed recognition to him for this.
“Opening the theater to my friend Seryozha Bezrukov. Then I was still, so to speak, expressing my concerns. I saw this happen before my eyes, if you really want something inside, if you have meaning and purpose, you will definitely achieve it,” he said.
Over the course of 10 years, MGT has presented more than fifty performances, held dozens of festivals and creative laboratories, and its troupe has performed in 50 cities across the country. The main motto is that theater is accessible to everyone. Thus, the cultural space was the first to use typographic commentary – a special explanatory text for people who see and hear poorly.
“I am glad that we have a wonderful troupe of versatile artists. There are stars that the whole country knows. But there really are these artists on whom the repertoire rests. This is all one big team, and I value every actor and every employee,” said People’s Artist of Russia Bezrukov.
In June 2023, Bezrukov spoke about filming the TV series “Plevako” with students from Donbass. According to the People’s Artist, he set up a workshop at VGIK and another one at a branch of the film school in Rostov-on-Don. He gives his students tips and prepares them for work in the theater.
