Kai Huckenbeck received a permanent wild card to start in the Grand Prix series only to further encourage German fans and sponsors to put money into the series. If it weren’t for his nationality, another speedway rider would have been awarded.
However, it does not matter, because Kai Huckenbeck sets an ambitious goal for himself, which is to stay in the Grand Prix series. The German also talks about a dream come true.
I have a lot of work ahead of me, because this will be the most important season in my career so far. I am excited to be part of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix 2024. I have always dreamed of becoming a permanent competitor in the series. The main goal, of course, is to stay there for another year
~ says the German in an interview with extraliga.pl
He returns to Bydgoszcz. He loves this track
After three years spent in Trans MF Landshut Devils, Kai Huckenbeck returns to Polonia Bydgoszcz, in which he already started in the 2020 season. The German had a relatively successful episode in Bydgoszcz, as he achieved a running average of 1.75 points/run.
– The track in Bydgoszcz is one of my favorites in Poland. Same as the club. There is a good atmosphere between the players and the coaching staff and we have the ambition to advance to the PGE Ekstraliga – said Kai Huckenbeck.
On the home track he felt like a fish out of water
Kai Huckenbeck doesn’t mince words, because the fact is that the German felt like a fish out of water on his home track. In the mentioned 2020 season, Huckenbeck had a home average of 2.067 points/run, which was the sixteenth result in the then 1st Speedway League.
Let us recall that Kai Huckenbeck changed the club due to turmoil with his current employer, Landshut Devils. If the German team had remained behind the PGE Ekstraliga, it is possible that Huckenbeck would not have changed employers, although he was also tempted by other teams.
