Elena Shelekhova, head of the press service for travel planning service OneTwoTrip, said on July 22 that it is better to buy the most profitable flights abroad on Tuesday or Wednesday.
In an interview with the Prime agency, she explained that the price of tickets for international flights is associated with fluctuations in exchange rates. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) on Wednesday updates the exchange rates that airlines are guided by. At the same time, IATA fixes the exchange rate on Monday, so if the ruble fell, then tickets should be purchased on Tuesday.
As Shelekhova noted, this rule does not apply to tickets within Russia. She recommended buying tickets for domestic flights in advance, 3-6 months before the trip. According to her, there are also chances to purchase them at a bargain price in 2-3 months, since airlines already assume an approximate flight load and can adjust prices.
The expert urged not to be tied to specific destinations and select flight options with transfers in order to see another city for free.
In addition, according to Shelekhova, if the cost of a ticket has already fallen, you should not hesitate for a long time, you should immediately buy a ticket.
Earlier, on July 14, Roman Gusarov, an aviation expert, editor-in-chief of Avia.ru, told Izvestia that the increase in airfare has already taken place compared to last year’s prices, therefore, from the point of view of the Ministry of Transport, there will be no further growth of 15–40%.
