Noor Muhammad’s wife Haseena (46), children Afsan (23), daughter Ayanas (21) and Aseem (12) were brutally murdered. All four died before reaching the hospital. Hasina’s mother-in-law Hajara was also stabbed. She is a 70-year-old woman who was stabbed several times in the stomach and is undergoing treatment. They went into the toilet and closed the door and the police came and rescued them by breaking down the door.
The incident took place in Nejjar under Malpe police station. The identity of the murderer has not been released. Udupi District Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar revealed that it is believed that the accused entered the house pre-planned for the murder. Since no items in the house were lost, the primary conclusion is that the motive of the accused was not theft and personal enmity may have motivated the act.
Local media reported quoting police sources that the suspect had targeted her elder daughter Afsan, an air hostess with Air India. It is concluded that the accused came from Bengaluru where Afsan works. The auto driver of the locality had stated that the accused was a man from Bengaluru who spoke Kannada. After this, the investigation continued in that direction. But the police has not confirmed whether the woman knows the accused. It is reported that Afsane was the first to be stabbed by the accused.
The police have received information that the assailant came in an autorickshaw from Santhekkat, a nearby area. Shyam Najar, the auto driver of the Santhekatta stand who brought him here, had given a statement that a bald man wearing a white mask entered the house. The passenger had a long bag hanging outside. By the time 15 minutes had passed, he was back on the stand. Shyam Najjar’s statement is that when he said that he would have waited if he would have returned so soon, he hastily got into another autorickshaw.
The police found the driver of the second rickshaw. The driver informed that he dropped the passenger at Karavali Bypass. It is also said that he spoke Bengaluru red Kannada. Five special teams have been appointed by the police to investigate.
It is reported that the assailant who entered the house got into a verbal argument and immediately committed violence. At this time, the younger son Aseem, who was outside the house, ran into the house hearing the screams. Asim was also stabbed by the killer. Ainan, the victim, was studying in college and Aseem was studying in class VIII. The district police chief informed that the incident took place between 8.30 am and 9 am on Sunday. The police have also collected the CCTV footage of the suspect.
