The national team faces Italy, Australia and Brazil in the Wheelchair World Cup

The draw for the World Wheelchair Basketball Championship, which will be held in Dubai from the fifth to the 24th of next June, with the participation of 28 teams for men and women, placed the national team in Group A, which includes Italy, Australia and Brazil alongside it.

While the second group includes: Egypt, Germany, Canada, Thailand. The third group includes: the Netherlands, Argentina, South Korea, France. The fourth group includes: America, Britain (the defending champion), Iran, Iraq.

The women’s competitions will be held in two groups: the first includes: the Netherlands, Algeria, America, Thailand, Japan, Germany. The second includes: Britain, Brazil, Canada, China, Australia, Spain.

The competitions will be held in the Dubai World Trade Center through the establishment of six stadiums, including two main competition stadiums and four training stadiums, in addition to other facilities to serve the participating teams and the fans who are expected to attend the event.

The draw ceremony witnessed the unveiling of the championship logo, which included prominent landmarks from Dubai, including the Palm Island, Burj Khalifa, and the Burj Al Arab Hotel, in addition to the unveiling of the tournament’s amulet, which is a falcon named “Al Hur”.

The organizing committee held the championship draw ceremony yesterday at the headquarters of the Dubai Sports Council, in the presence of the President of the UAE Paralympic Committee, Mohammed Fadel Al Hameli, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Club for People of Determination, Thani Juma Balrakad, the Director of the World Wheelchair Basketball Championship, Majid Al Osaimi, and the President of the International Federation. The Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee, Mohammed Fadel Al Hameli, expressed his great happiness at hosting the World Wheelchair Basketball Championship for the first time in the Emirate of Dubai.

On the sidelines of the tournament draw, he stressed that everything is ready to host the tournament, in which 28 countries will participate in the men’s and women’s competitions. Al-Hamli also expressed his confidence in the quality of the organization of the international forum.
