The number of residents of the Belgorod region who are in hospitals after shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has decreased to 69, six victims have been discharged. The governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced this on January 6.
“Six victims were discharged from hospitals yesterday. One person, unfortunately, was injured in Shebekino. Now there are 69 people in hospitals in Moscow and Belgorod, everyone is receiving the necessary medical care,” he said in his Telegram channel.
Gladkov added that in connection with requests from citizens, courses on emergency first aid were organized at the Belgorod Center for Youth Initiatives, the Oktyabr cultural center and clinic No. 6. The governor also recalled that similar classes have been held at the disaster medicine center for almost two years.
The day before, Gladkov reported that as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces at Shebekino in the Belgorod region, a man, a security guard at one of the industrial enterprises, was injured and received a shrapnel wound to his lower limb.
Prior to this, on the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the destruction by air defense (air defense) of 10 missiles of the Vilkha multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) over the Belgorod region.
At the same time, Gladkov reported that after the shelling of the Belgorod region by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, there were 74 wounded in hospitals at that time, of which 20 people were in intensive care units in Moscow under the supervision of experienced doctors.
On the night of January 5, Gladkov reported that, according to preliminary data, two people were injured as a result of shelling in the region. One man has a shrapnel wound to the forearm, the second has a shrapnel wound to the lower leg.
On December 30, Ukrainian militants fired several Vilkha missiles at the center of Belgorod. It was reported that the strikes were carried out with ammunition in prohibited cluster ammunition. As a result, 25 people died, five of whom were children. Another 109 people were injured.
Russian President Vladimir Putin called the strikes on Belgorod a terrorist attack. He pointed out that the Ukrainian Armed Forces deliberately fired at civilians with indiscriminate weapons that hit a large area.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of a special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022. The decision to hold it was made against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
