White flour products with sugar, as well as some bitter foods, such as beer, can dramatically increase blood sugar. This was warned by a nutritionist, candidate of medical sciences Elena Solomatina.
“Any sweet carbonated drinks that irritate our mucous membranes and contribute to the accelerated penetration of sugar. Also, sugar rises with the use of all kinds of sweets and products made from premium flour. However, it can also be a bitter high glycemic food such as beer. The combination of white flour with sugar especially sharply increases the level of glucose in the blood, ”the expert said in an interview with Izvestia.
According to her, it is advisable to eat foods that control blood sugar levels.
“Mostly, these are unsweetened foods, such as green and leafy vegetables, celery. They are even able to take the sugar that is already in the blood and compensate for its level, ”said Solomatina.
Among other factors that contribute to the development of diabetes, pre-diabetic state and insulin resistance, the doctor attributed the genetic predisposition, constant stress and excess weight.
On August 14, nutritionist Svetlana Goryainova said that potatoes and bread dramatically increase blood sugar levels, and therefore are dangerous for diabetics. According to her, both of these products have a high glycemic index. As the expert pointed out, in order to avoid a rise in blood sugar levels after eating potatoes, it is better to cook them in their skins with a minimum amount of water.
