The Olympic Committee is looking into ways to raise the level of athletes technically and in terms of awareness

The Athletes Committee of the National Olympic Committee discussed ways to raise the general level of athletes in all aspects, whether technical, cultural or awareness-raising, based on its prominent role in supporting the national Olympic movement, and refining the skills and capabilities of its members with ambitious programs that are in line with global sports trends, and consolidate the country’s position in major external forums and events.

This came during the meeting of the Athletes Committee held yesterday morning, using video conferencing technology, headed by the Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Athletes Committee, Faris Al Mutawa, in the presence of the Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Youssef Al Hammadi, and the members: Abdullah Al Marri, Omar Al Marzouqi, Saif bin Futais, Safia Al Sayegh, Mohammed Al Nakhi, Mohammed Al Nubi Al Hammadi, Aisha Al Ali, and Saud Al Zaabi.

A press release from the National Olympic Committee stated that the Athletes Committee discussed during the meeting several important topics on the agenda, including the role of the committee during the next phase, discussing the challenges facing athletes in the country in detail, working on preparing visions and solutions to ensure achieving the desired flexibility in the sports competition process, and providing a suitable environment for athletes to improve their performance and results, in addition to discussing the design of future mechanisms to select sports talents in the country, and reviewing how to benefit from the directives of His Highness the President of the State, may God protect him, regarding the list of residents, sons and children born in the country in expanding the base of competitive sports practice, and benefiting from sports talents.

Fares Al Mutawa stressed that the Athletes Committee always seeks to stand side by side with the athletes, learn about their opinions and ideas regarding the future of the Olympic movement, and invest their expertise and experiences in building new frameworks to deal with developments in the areas of Olympic work by opening channels of communication with the Athletes Committee of the International Olympic Committee, which is considered one of the most important committees, as it represents the voice of athletes worldwide inside and outside the International Olympic Committee.
