The Supreme Organizing Committee of the 33rd Al Qaffal Race for local 60-foot sailing ships has developed action plans to make the race, which will be held from May 11 to 19, a success. The race is organized by the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, where elite owners, captains and sailors will compete over a stretch of more than 50 nautical miles for the grand title, from Sir Bu Nair Island, through Comoros Island, to the shores of Dubai.
Yesterday, the W Dubai Mina Seyahi Hotel witnessed the holding of the general coordination meeting between the organizing committee and success partners from government departments, bodies and national institutions, in the presence of members of the club’s board of directors, Khalid Khamis bin Dasmal, Khalid Ali Al Balushi, and Mohammed Abdullah Hareb, the executive director and supervisor of the event, in addition to Brigadier General Dr. Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, Director of the Ports Police Station, and Colonel Marwan Al Marzouqi from the National Guard Command, 4th Squadron. The meeting discussed the details of the race, such as clarifying the timetable, presenting the start date for registration starting next May, and the dates of movement towards Sir Bu Nair Island, the place where the event will start, which will be determined in light of the reports of the National Center of Meteorology. The meeting concluded with the development of a unified work plan under the supervision of the Supreme Organizing Committee, which works first to study all reports on the state of the sea during the period specified as the date of the race, and to work to achieve the principle of security and safety for the participants, including owners, captains, and sailors, as well as the working committees. The meeting focused on television broadcast arrangements with the media partner, Dubai Media Incorporated, in addition to the rest of the other arrangements.
