Kondal Reddy was believed to perform the pujas for the prevention of evil. Aghora and Sadhu came in disguise and disguised themselves in the name of worship. Believing it to be true, Kondal Reddy worshiped as they said. This gang extorted Rs.37 lakhs from Kondal Reddy in the name of Pujala. Kondal Reddy approached the police when he got suspicious because he was repeatedly asking for money.
Bhuvanagiri SOT and Bhuvanagiri Town Police conducted a joint operation. Baba’s impersonator Ramnath and Govind Nath along with five others were arrested. CP Mahesh Bhagwat said that four others are absconding. It has been revealed that the police are searching for them. 8 lakh in cash, counting machine, Rudraksha Malas and Puja Saman were recovered from the arrested persons. Police investigation revealed that the accused have committed similar frauds in other states including Telangana.
Even in this age where technology has developed so much, superstitions are making people lose their discretion. Even well-educated people are being badly cheated by people who are not at least tent pass. Police advises not to blindly believe the words of such fraudsters.
