Madinah Criminal Court has sentenced Yasser Muslim al-Arawi to eight months in prison and fined him 5,000 riyals for sexual assault. The new Saudi decision began in January 2021. Saudi Arabia’s new decision is part of a series of changes to the country’s sexual harassment lawsuit. In addition to the imprisonment and fine mentioned in Article 6, it has been decided to publish the name of the convicted person in the local newspapers at his own expense.

The amendment also includes provisions against those who lodge false harassment complaints. Initially, the authorities did not release the names and pictures of the accused. The emphasis was on the privacy of individuals. But the Saudis have come to such a decision at a time when the number of criminals in the country is on the rise.
