The government of Tatarstan approved an action plan to protect the population and territory of the republic during the flood period in the spring of 2023. The document was developed to prevent emergencies, protect residents, facilities, hydraulic structures, roads and bridges.
IA “Tatar-inform” clarifies that local governments, commissions for the prevention and elimination of emergencies and fire safety were instructed to control the work on the elimination of emergencies in accordance with the plan. By April 1, they must provide the republican Ministry of Emergency Situations with data on the implementation of the plan and how the flood is going.
The plan, among other things, provides for the preparation of municipalities for floods, departures of rescue department employees to settlements that fall into the zone of increased risk of flooding, clarification of plans for the partial evacuation of the population and livestock from areas of possible flooding.
Employees of the Republican Ministry of Ecology will monitor the quality of surface water in places where liquid waste accumulates, treatment facilities and storage sites for pesticides. Law enforcement officials should provide escorts for the transport of explosives to clear ice blockages on rivers.
