New Delhi: It is customary to invite leaders of friendly countries as special guests for a special parade held in Delhi on the occasion of the Republic Day of India.
The Presidents of 5 Central Asian Republics participated in the Republic Day celebrations last January. They participated in the India-Central Asia Conference held in Delhi.
It was decided to invite Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as a special guest at the Republic Day celebrations in January next year. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar gave this invitation of Prime Minister Modi to Egyptian President Al-Sisi on October 16. He accepted it. This year marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. India has also invited Egypt to participate as a guest in the G-20 meeting to be held in 2022-23 under the leadership of India.
