French President Emmanuel Macron hinted that he knew Mbappe’s next destination, as he responded to a celebrity’s question that he had pressured the future French star’s team to allow him to play in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
Macron said, in response to questions from the French comedian Paul de Saint-Sernin, which were published today, Thursday, on his Instagram account: “I have put maximum pressure on what they say will be Mbappe’s new club.”
He added: “We have to deal with each match separately, first the European Championship, then July 14, the end of the tournament, which coincides with the French national holiday. They must win.”
In his statements from Marseille, where the Olympic torch arrived last Wednesday, and which will travel throughout France until arriving in Paris on July 26, the French president did not specify which club he spoke to.
Mbappe announced last February that he would not renew his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, which expires next June, and the press assumed that he would soon play for Real Madrid.
