New Delhi: The Supreme Court has suspended the promotion of 68 lower court judges, including the judge who sentenced Rahul Gandhi to 2 years imprisonment.
The state government has accepted the recommendation given by the state high court to promote 68 subordinate judges from Gujarat as district judges. Against this two senior civil judges Ravikumar Maheda and Sachin Pratap Rai Mehda filed a case in the Supreme Court. MR. A bench headed by Shah heard and passed the verdict today.
In it, the judge said, “The State Government’s order accepting the recommendation of the High Court and promoting 68 persons as District Judges is illegal. Therefore, this order is temporarily stayed. All the 68 persons who were promoted as District Judges should go back to their previous posts. This case will be transferred to the appropriate session.” M.R. The session chaired by Shah said.
Judge MR. As Shah is retiring on the 15th, the case is being shifted to another session. Among the 68 judges promoted, the name of Harish Hasmukbhai Verma, who sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years in jail, is also included.
