The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation has decided to recognize the activity of a foreign non-governmental organization Conflict Intelligence Team (“Network Association of Investigative Journalists”) as undesirable on the territory of the country. This is stated in a message published on the agency’s website on Thursday, August 10.
Until 2015, the group was called War in Ukraine. Its creator is Ruslan Karpuk, a citizen of the Russian Federation, who is currently hiding abroad together with members of FBK (the organization is included in the register of foreign non-profit organizations and recognized as extremist, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation), who are residents of foreign states and also live abroad .
According to the department, the journalists of this organization are collecting and publishing false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In addition, their materials use the personal data of the Russian military to discredit. Also in their work, journalists interact with the Bellingcat organization, which is also recognized as undesirable in Russia.
On March 3, 2022, Roskomnadzor blocked the website of the Conflict Intelligence Team organization “for the dissemination of unreliable publicly significant information about the progress of the JI”.
Earlier, on June 28, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation recognized the activities of the publication Novaya Gazeta Europe as undesirable. According to the department, this organization is engaged in activities “to create and disseminate tendentious information materials to the detriment of the interests of the Russian Federation.”
